Health Insurance
In certain cases, some people carry health insurance that covers
mental health. However, most health insurance will only cover you if
you are diagnosed with a major mental disorder. Since this is rarely
the case for my clients, I do not accept health insurance.
I aim to create an environment where client's wellbeing is the top priority. Unfortunately, health insurance companies require that a major mental disorder is diagnosed for each client in order to be reimbursed. I find that the rigid requirements of health insurance inevitably get in the way of me providing the best possible care for you.
Additionally, client privacy is compromised by the billing record created by insurance. In the future, if you want to apply for life, disability or private health insurance, you may be turned down due to the prior diagnosis of a mental disorder. The diagnosis may also be revealed if you ever get subpoenaed.
If cost is an issue for you, I do occasionally set a lower fee based on financial need. If you believe this applies to you, please mention this in our first session, or contact me on (714) 855-2232 to discuss. If I am not able to help you, I will do my best to find a good referral.
